The Archetypes
“It is necessary to point out ... that archetypes are not determined as regards their content, but only as regards their form … there are present in every psyche, forms which are unconscious but nonetheless active – living dispositions … that preform and continually influence our thoughts and feelings and actions.

Archetypes are symbolic representations of the underlying unity of our experience as sentient beings -- deeper than our personalities, deeper than differing cultural perspectives, deeper than gender distinctions, deeper than generational differences. Archetypes symbolically capture the underlying templates of our human and sentient form that point toward unity, purpose, fulfillment, and the common thread of the evolution of consciousness.
The eight archetypes here presented represent 7 consistent vessels, or forms, through which each individual expresses and has the opportunity to create a unique persona. The 8th form is experienced consistently by all individuals while resting and re-evaluating between lives. Many incarnations are necessary for us to experience and master all aspects of what it means to be a human being.
Therefore in each life experience, “the possibility of representation”, as Jung states it, unfolds within all of us as a unique and complex personality. In each unique life experience as a human being, the representations change, but not the archetypal form.
This particular set of 8 archetypal images captures, from the artist’s perspective, an understanding of universal truth as it pertains to the underlying eternal essence inherent in all sentient beings.
It is with gratitude that these images and their poetic haikus may elicit in the viewer recognition of the universal truths that comprise their authentic and eternal essence expression.
